Overview
File
- New Report
- Brings up the new report
wizard.
- Open
- Opens an existing report definition (RDL file).
- Close
- Closes the current report.
- Save
- Saves the current report.
- Save As
- Saves the current report under a new name.
- Print
- Prints the running report. This item is only enabled when you are
previewing a report.
- Export
- Exports the running report to a PDF, HTML, Web Archive, or XML
file. This item is only enabled when you are previewing a report.
- Recent Files
- Shows the most recently opened files. The number of files
shown in the list can be modified in the options dialog.
Edit
- Undo
- Reverses the last modification to the report. When undoing a dialogs work,
the undo reverses all actions performed within the dialog.
- Cut
- Deletes the selected report item(s) and places them on the clipboard.
- Copy
- Places the selected report item(s) on the clipboard.
- Paste
- Takes the contents of the clipboard and put it into the report. If an
image is on the clipboard, an embedded image is created and then an Image is placed in the
report pointing to that embedded image.
- Delete
- Deletes the selected report item(s).
- Select All
- Selects all report items.
View
- Designer
- Changes the main display to the WYSIWYG report designer.
- RDL Text
- Changes the main display to the directly edit the RDL syntax.
- Preview
- Runs the report. If the report has been previously previewed and no
changes have occurred the report is not rerun.
- Show Report in Browser
- Starts up the Desktop Server (if not previously started)
and creates a temporary copy of the report, places it in the Desktop Server's report directory and
starts a browser against that page.
- Properties
- Brings up the Property dialog for the selected report item. If there are
multiple selected report items the property page will show just the properties in common between the
report items.
Data
- DataSets
- The list of existing data sets are displayed in a submenu. Picking one will
bring up a property dialog for that dataset. If you pick New a property dialog for the new DataSet is
started.
- Data Sources
- The Data Sources property dialog is started.
- Embedded Images
- The dialog for handling embedded images is started.
- Create Shared Data Source
- The dialog for handling shared data sources is started. Shared data
sources allow you to create an encrypted file that contains the connection information.
- Align
- Aligns the left, center or right edges of the selected report items.
- Size
- Sizes either the height, width or both height and width of the selected
report items.
- Horizontal Spacing
- When multiple report items are selected you can make the horizontal
spacing betweens the items equal. Or you can increase or decrease the space between the items.
- Vertical Spacing
- When multiple report items are selected you can make the vertical
spacing betweens the items equal. Or you can increase or decrease the space between the items.
- Padding Left
- Adjusts the left padding property of the selected report items.
- Padding Right
- Adjusts the right padding property of the selected report items.
- Padding Top
- Adjusts the top padding property of the selected report items.
- Padding Bottom
- Adjusts the bottom padding property of the selected report items.
- Validate RDL
- Brings up a dialog to test the RDL syntax against the RDL schema.
This is available only when editting the RDL Syntax.
- Start/Stop Desktop Server
- This option will either start or stop the Desktop Server.
The Desktop server is automatically started when you choose to preview the report in the browser.
This allows you to start or stop that process.
- Options
- Opens up the options dialog allowing you to
configure the designer menu, toolbar and desktop server...
Window
- Cascade
- Repositions the windows all open reports: left to right, top to bottom.
- Tile
- Repositions the windows of all open reports by tiling without overlaps either
vertically or horizontally.
- Close All
- Closes all open reports. You will be prompted to save any reports that
have been modified.
- 1 ...
- Open reports will be listed sequentially starting with 1. If you pick a report
it will be made current.
Help
- Help
- Opens the html help system. The URL opened is determined by the Tools/Options dialog.
- Support
- Opens up the fyiReporting support Forum in a browser.
- About
- The about dialog contains licensing and versioning information.
