Error Handling

RDL Syntax Errors
When you preview a report in the designer the RDL syntax is first compiled. When previewing a report with syntax errors instead of seeing the report you'll see a list of the errors encountered while parsing the report. The most common error will usually be within an expression. You should double check the expression in question for validity.
Report Runtime Errors
After you preview a report you may see a "!" in a triangle in the top right corner of the preview window. Clicking on the triangle will bring up a dialog showing the runtime errors.
Code Errors
When you preview a report you may see errors based on the compilation of the VB code you've included in the report. Review the report properties code tab and validate your syntax.
